Your Opportunity:

The Registered Nurse (RN) reports directly to the Clinic Manager of 3D Medicine Clinics and plays an integral role within a fast paced ambulatory care environment. This position supports multiple specialty areas, including General Internal Medicine (GIM), Hematology, Pulmonary, and Occupational Medicine. In this role, the RN assists with minor procedures and participates in the initial assessment of patients as appropriate to the clinical setting. The RN provides patient education to support understanding of conditions, treatment plans, and ongoing self management. As a key member of an interdisciplinary team, the RN helps ensure coordinated, high quality care within an outpatient environment. The RN contributes to a holistic and patient centered approach by promoting health, facilitating care coordination, and supporting patients throughout their healthcare journey. Acting as a liaison, the RN helps maintain effective communication between physicians, other clinical team members, and external healthcare providers to ensure seamless continuity of care. A medium level of physical activity is required to fulfill job requirements including but not limited to reaching above shoulders frequently, looking up frequently, prolonged periods of computer/ keyboard and telephone work is required. Sufficient mobility to: stand for long periods, work in noisy environment, bend, stoop, and move around rapidly throughout the shift is required. Must be able to lift and carry 10-15kg regularly and participate in hands on care of patients (i.e. transfers, bariatric clients, bending, twisting, walking distances). Ability to work alone in the Medicine clinics is required.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Previous experience in GIM, Hematology and Pulmonary Medicine. Ambulatory Clinic Experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with applying and interpreting ABPM (24-hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring). Experience assisting physician during minor procedures, including bone marrow biopsies. Experience with patient teaching.
