Your Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity at the Northeast Community Health Centre. This facility offers a 24/7 Emergency Department, and a variety of Ambulatory, Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging services. The Registered Nurse position is the ‘front line’ representative in delivering care within the IV Therapy & Women’s Health Clinics. Based on a primary health care model, the incumbent functions within a multidisciplinary team, and would be responsible for the assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient care. The incumbent performs a variety of nursing related duties in accordance with clinical policies and standards. The incumbent must have strong leadership, judgement and decision-making skills, as well as the ability to participate in inter-professional collaboration. The RN will play a key role in providing safe, quality, patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. The incumbent will be working with patients of all ages, serving those from high-risk social determinants of health, and new Canadians.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years recent (within the last 1-2 years) Women’s Obstetrical Health/Fetal Health Surveillance experience required. Must have strong experience with IV initiation and maintenance. Competency with medication administration required. Training and experience utilizing Connect Care; both for scheduling and EMR. Strong comprehensive patient assessment and decision making. Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and independence of practice in a highly functional team environment (balance numerous demands/conflicting priorities). Strong critical thinking skills, along with demonstrated time-management and organization skills in a fast-paced environment. Expertise in patient teaching/education. Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work in a physically challenging environment, constant walking, and lifting/bending necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current experience with wound care is preferred. Ambulatory Care experience is preferred.
