Olds Hospital and Care Center has an exciting opportunity as a Perioperative/PACU/Day Surgery Registered Nurse. We are excited to be working on expanding our programs in alignment with the Alberta Surgical Initiative and are looking for a dedicated Perioperative/PACU/Day Surgery Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Perioperative/PACU/Day Surgery Nurse, you will report to the Site Manager and will be responsible for providing perioperative patient care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA), Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA). You will demonstrate full-scope competence in delivering safe, effective, and efficient care in both the scrub and circulating roles as an integral part of the surgical team. With a growing industrial base and a flourishing agricultural economy, Olds is a hidden gem located in Central Alberta. Olds boasts several excellent recreational facilities, many parks and trails.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum two years’ experience within the last five years in an Operating Room in both the scrub and circulating roles. Critical care background and/or previous Recovery Room (PACU) experience. Experience in getting patients ready for surgery (PAC), starting IVs, reviewing patient history. Experience with ortho, urology, c-sections, and gyne surgeries is an asset. Ability to work in a past paced environment. Effective communication and critical thinking skills are required for this role. Ability to be standing for long periods, and lifting up to 20 lbs. Successful completion and certification from an approved Perioperative Nursing program. Participating in on call as required. Providing post op education to the patient and their family regarding their surgery.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with ortho, urology, c-sections, and gyne surgeries is an asset. Ability to work in a past paced environment. PAC training. PACU training.
