Registered Nurse
Your Opportunity:
As a member of the Neurosciences ICU Team, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe and effective nursing care according to hospital policies and nursing care standards. Job duties include working between the High Intensity Unit, the Stroke Observation Unit and the Neurosciences ICU. Working within the full scope of practice, the RN observes, monitors, reports and documents changes in the patient's physical, mental and emotional state, assists the patients with activities of daily living and provides the patients and family with relevant information and teaching. The successful candidate will work as part of the multidisciplinary team collaborating on positive patient outcomes and providing quality care.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent completion of a recognized Critical Care course with 1 year of adult critical care experience and experience within a neuro ICU and neuro ward setting is required. Demonstration of excellent assessment, documentation, clinical, communication, organization and patient care skills are necessary for successful completion of the Clinical Assessment and to continue employment with the Critical Care Program. Candidates must display excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal skills and demonstrated critical thinking skills. Leadership skills and proven mentorship skills are a must. Candidates must be able to identify their own learning needs, seek guidance in professional practice when deficits occur, and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional growth and development. A commitment to providing quality patient and family-centered care in a team environment must be demonstrated. The candidate must have physical capability for the role, including the ability to lift to and including 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:Certifications, training or experience with the following are preferred: ACLS, CNA Critical Care Certification, cardiac rhythm analysis, Emergency Cardiac Arrest Management, External Ventricular Devices, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring.
