Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

1-2 years of recent experience in an Adult Addiction/ Mental Health nursing role. Working knowledge of relevant legislation is required, including the Alberta Mental Health Act and the Health Information Act. Working knowledge of psychotropic medications and psychopathology. Working knowledge of non-violent crisis de-escalation strategies/techniques to assist with complex behavioural needs. Working knowledge of appropriate restraint use (chemical, physical, mechanical, and environmental). Working knowledge and understanding of the principles of trauma-informed care. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in working with clients with concurrent disorders. Motivational interviewing skills and the ability to confidently utilize de-escalation strategies would be considered a strength. Communication skills to engage with patients that have varied levels of cognitive functioning would be considered an asset.
