Your Opportunity:

This position serves primarily the communities of Red Deer, Sylvan Lake, and surrounding areas. Office location is Bremner Ave CHC. The PCRN functions as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team in acute care, continuing care and home care settings to provide specialized assessment and intervention on a consultative and limited direct service basis. Responsible for working collaboratively with physician consultants, primary care physicians, and other health care professionals along the continuum of care to ensure the provision of quality palliative care services that follow evidence-based best practices. Working in designated communities, the PCRN plans, advocates and develops community capacity in palliative care through consultation with, and education of, all stakeholders.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years nursing experience, at least 2 of which must be recent Palliative Care experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

CNA certification in Hospice Palliative Care preferred. Demonstrated abilities in program planning, education and research activities and experience in delivery of care in the community setting. Familiarity with communities and supports in assigned area would be an asset. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to lead a team and promote collaboration and partnership. Connect Care, Netcare and Microsoft Office applications.
