Registered Nurse
Your Opportunity:
The Registered Nurse –Unit 25/27 Float Nurse will be required to coordinate the delivery of nursing care for expectant mothers and their infants in the Ante/ Intra and postpartum periods. The Registered Nurse will participate in family teaching and will provide leadership by working collaboratively with ancillary and other members of the health care team in maintaining standards of professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. The Registered Nurse will be able to maintain positive working relationships with parents, families, and co-workers, and be able to independently manage multiple priorities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a strong Family Centered Care philosophy are required.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:Recent experience in Labour/Delivery/Perioperative/ Antepartum/postpartum and Newborn care required. Current BCLS-HCP certification Fetal Health Surveillance experience required Basic computer skills Good communication skills and the ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required Demonstrated ongoing responsibility for maintaining own continuing competence through professional development activities Ability to work shift work Ability to meet the physical demands of the job
Preferred Qualifications:Current IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) Certification as asset Inter-professional Communication Patient/Client/Family/Community-Centered Care Leadership and critical thinking skills Ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities Ability to work within a team environment and to effectively contribute to patient and family care planning processes
