If so, come and work as a member of the South Health Campus Day Medicine Team collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care to meet the needs of individuals and families. The successful candidate will provide leadership in nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, preventing illness, injury and disability or supporting a peaceful death. The Registered Nurse collaborates with the medical staff, clinical departments and external clinicians to provide timely and efficient service for medical patients. The roles assumed include clinical leader/expert, care coordinator and patient educator. The Day Medicine Nurse requires sound understanding of medical protocols of care to deliver specialized expertise and skills to this patient population.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

At least 2 years Recent Day Medicine experience required (within last 5 years). Current certification in IV Initiation & Maintenance. CVC Certification Level 1 & 2 required. Required experience with chemotherapy administration and the infusion of biologics. Required experience with the performance of phlebotomies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to function effectively in a fast paced changing environment. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills. Strong decision making skills and clinical assessment skills. Demonstrated high functioning time management and organizational skills. Must be able to work in physically challenging environment; working, standing, lifting & bending required.
