Registered Nurse

If you are a Registered Nurse looking to apply your teamwork skills and work in a dynamic fast-paced environment, then the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute (MAZ) Cardiac Operating Room is the place for you! As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for Cardiac Operating Room services. Decisions are made in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. This position provides a challenging experience in the services of Adult & Pediatric Cardiac Surgery & Devices, Organ Transplantation and Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD) as well as various other innovative procedures. The successful applicant for this position will be responsible for performing scrub, circulating and leadership roles where required in the MAZ.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:Demonstrate excellent assessment, organizational, and patient care skills. Ability to communicate findings concisely and accurately. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated initiative, flexibility and independence in a team atmosphere. Demonstrated ability to positively adapt towards change. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Participate and lead where needed in Unit/Program/Site/Zone/Provincial activities. Being available for on-call assignments is required as is being punctual. A minimum of 2 years of MAZ Cardiac Operating Room experience including on-call circulating and scrub experience. Perioperative Nursing course required.
Preferred Qualifications:A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
