Your Opportunity:

WestView Continuing Care is a 40 bed Long Term Care and 6 bed Hospice unit. We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join WestView Continuing Care. As a self-directed team member with Continuing Care in the Edmonton zone. The Registered Nurse works collaboratively with the health care team and has responsibilities, including assessment of needs, delivering appropriate therapeutic nursing interventions within professional practice standards, coordinating resources, establishing goals for client delivery, and evaluating outcomes. The Registered Nurse acts is the Charge Nurse on the team providing clinical expertise and direction to other team members.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in continuing care (i.e. facility living) will be considered. Palliative care experience. Previous Continuing Care and/or geriatric experience. Experience with Connect Care and the RAI assessment tool. 2 years current Case Management Experience in Continuing Care would be a benefit.
