Your Opportunity:

The Diagnostic Imaging Registered Nurse (RN) works in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary, multi-modality environment. Responsibilities are to educate and prepare patients undergoing a variety of Diagnostic Imaging Procedures. The nurse works collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, to evaluate and respond to the patient’s condition and care while in the Diagnostic Imaging Department. The RN may rotate through all imaging areas on site; including interventional radiology, DI recovery, and other modalities as required. This position will share equally in any shift, weekend, or on-call responsibilities that may be expected. As well, works collaboratively with radiologists and technologists to monitor and provide care before, during, and after these procedures. The RN will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being while in the department. The RN is guided by their level of education, expertise, experience, demonstrated skill level and Alberta Health Services policies, procedures, and scope of practice.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must be able to wear a lead apron (15-20lbs) for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to perform a considerable amount of patient transfers each shift. A minimum of five years current nursing experience, at least two of which are Critical Care environment in a tertiary level setting required. BCLS required. Previous experience in Diagnostic imaging interventional procedures including recovery required. Experience with blood product and component transfusion and monitoring required.

Preferred Qualifications:

OR, Emergency, ICU/CCU experience an asset. Certification in IV therapy, CVC Access and Care, POCT blood glucose monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation. Experience in Hemodynamic monitoring, medication administration, and PCA Pumps. ACLS an asset.
