Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of the perioperative nursing course is required. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. The place of work is in a community designated for Canada Student Loan forgiveness as outlined in https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/education/student-aid/grants-loans/repay/assistance/doctors-nurses/amount.html. You may be eligible for Canada Student Loan forgiveness if you meet other eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:At least two (2) years of experience within the last five (5) years in an OR suite, day surgery unit and post-anesthesia recovery room. Post-Anesthesia Care Nursing Course. Canadian Nurses Association Peri-operative CPN(C) Certification. Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) member.
