Registered Nurse
Your Opportunity:
Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is responsible for the provision of comprehensive patient care in a critical and highly specialized area. The Registered Nurse (RN) demonstrates a professional and caring approach to patients and families using the primary/team nursing model. The PACU RN comes with minimum 5 years of Acute Surgical Nursing experience, strong organizational and prioritization skills, and functions autonomously in the PACU setting. Acts as the primary care provider for patients; uses technical skills and clinical judgement in the delivery of professional nursing care to highly acute patients in a Level 1 Trauma Centre PACU. The PACU RN participates in collaborative practice with other members of the multidisciplinary health care team.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:Require 5 years minimum of Acute Care and/or Critical Care RN nursing experience (owning a line and FTE). Surgical Nursing experience required from nursing units such as Neuro, Trauma, General Surgery, and Ortho Units (within the past 2 years). FMC PACU orientation and experience within last 6 months. Proven excellent interpersonal, conflict management, and communication skills. Proven ability to apply critical analysis in a critical environment that is constantly evolving. Proven ability to think quickly on your feet in a fast-paced environment, which can be stressful at times. Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time at patient bedsides. Ability to move/reposition unresponsive patients in order to protect airways. Intermediate computer skills.
