Edmonton Zone Continuing Care provides services through five main program areas: Home Living, Supportive Living, Facility Living, Transition Services and Palliative Care. We are looking for a Registered Nurse Direct to join our Home Living team to provide professional support services in the homes of clients of all ages and stages of life. As a self-directed team member with Continuing Care, the Registered Nurse demonstrates strong team player skills and has responsibilities, including assessment of needs, delivering appropriate therapeutic nursing services within professional practice standards, coordinating resources, establishing goals for client delivery, and evaluating outcomes. In addition, this position involves case management of clients as well as the direct provision of client care that meets established clinical standards, and is evidence based and client centered. The Registered Nurse acts as a consultant on the team providing clinical expertise and direction to other team members regarding their cases. In collaboration with the client and case manager, the direct RN care plans to address client’s unmet nursing needs using appropriate internal and external resources through nursing assessment and interventions to clients. This position will work: Days, Evenings, Weekends and STAT as per rotation

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:Excellent organizational and time management skills. Communication and assessment skills to work cooperatively and effectively with the healthcare team members, clients, and their families in a fast-paced environment. Excellent interpersonal skills. Proven critical thinking and decision-making skills. Physically able to perform all assigned tasks. The successful candidate will work independently in clients’ homes, which could include congregate settings, single family dwellings, condos and/or walk-up apartments. Therefore, the successful candidate must be able to work in different settings and environments (home environments and weather conditions), as well as be able to lift and carry medical bags, which weigh approximately 25-30 lbs. At the time of interview, you may be required to demonstrate your computer knowledge and proficiency by completing a hands-on assessment. You must demonstrate sufficient typing speed to meet workload demand and navigate through various computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Visio, Outlook and Internet.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. Experience in Palliative Care. Experience in Connect Care. Two years current nursing practice with one year in a Continuing Care based setting. Experience with complex clients including acute, chronic and end of life conditions. Experience with cardiac, IV therapy and wound care.
