Unit 93/94 is a Medical Teaching Unit with 29 beds per unit whose focus is on providing quality and safe care to our complex acute medical patients. Our RN's role is to provide excellent assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for the purpose of promoting, maintaining, or restoring health, preventing illness, injury, and disability. As an RN on Unit 93/94, you will have the opportunity to mentor all levels of learners. Your duties include managing admissions and discharges, and prioritizing care needs for the Acute Medical population. There is also the opportunity for you to be trained as Charge Nurse. Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must have a min of 1 year experience on an acute medical nursing unit within the last 12 months. Or have completed a final focus placement on an adult acute medical unit within the last 6 months. Ability to learn new skills and adapt to changing technology. Current Heart and Stroke BLS-HCP certification. Strong assessment and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Strong Critical thinking and problem-solving solutions. Ability to contribute as a team member, learn within a dynamic environment and adapt/cope with change. Demonstrated excellent time management and organization skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency with clinical documentation standards (Connect Care). Candidates with previous experience on a unit of comparable acuity/patient population are strongly preferred.
