Your Opportunity:

As a Registered Nurse in the Day Surgery/Short Stay Multifunctional department you will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures on an outpatient and inpatient basis. Collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists and other healthcare professionals you will ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of patients throughout their surgical experience. Your duties will include pre-operative assessment, post-operative care, patient education and discharge planning. Key responsibilities will include pre-operative evaluation of medical histories physical and psychological status, preparing patients while ensuring appropriate consent and pre-operative protocols are followed, medication administration and post-operative monitoring, educating patients and their families around post-operative care and follow-up instructions as well as participation in ongoing professional development opportunities.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent Surgical experience. Emergency/Critical Care experience an asset. Charge Nurse experience within the last 2 years. Experience working with Connect Care
