Etches NICU, located at the Royal Alexandra Hospital! Our 69-bed unit is one of the busiest and most specialized NICUs in Canada, serving patients from across Northern Alberta, the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. With high acuity and high activity, we provide exceptional care to some of the most vulnerable infants. WHAT SETS US APART: We utilize a Family Centered Care philosophy within an interdisciplinary team model and are proud to be the only NIDCAP (Newborn Individualized Developmental Care and Assessment Program) training center in Canada. A dedicated Resuscitation and Stabilization Team (RST) responds to the High-Risk case room at the Lois Hole Hospital. WHAT YOU’LL DO: Perform a variety of nursing duties and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, patients and their families to achieve positive patient outcomes and improvements in quality care. Nursing care will be administered safely and effectively according to NICU and hospital guidelines. As a RN, you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and wellbeing. Utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:Basic computer literacy, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a strong Family Centered Care philosophy is required. Note this position may be eligible for an educational opportunity: 3 week classes beginning November 3rd, 2025. The incumbent will be trained to have a thorough understanding of the care of the level 2 and level 3 neonatal patients. Successful pass of a Math Calculation Competency Assessment of 90% may be required to be considered for hire.
Preferred Qualifications:A BScN is preferred, along with recent acute care, critical care, post-partum/mother baby care, or pediatrics experience. Previous NICU experience is an asset.
