Your Opportunity:

We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our Home and Community Care Services team to provide professional support services in the homes and community of clients of all ages and stages of life. As a self-directed team member, the Registered Nurse works collaboratively with the health care team and has responsibilities, including assessment of needs, delivering appropriate therapeutic nursing services within professional practice standards, coordinating resources, establishing goals for client delivery, and evaluating outcomes. In addition, this position provides case management as well as direct client care that meets established clinical standards, and is evidence based and client centered. In collaboration with family and other partners, the Registered Nurse acts as a consultant with the team providing clinical expertise and direction to other team members regarding client cases, developing a care plan, based on those unmet needs, using the appropriate internal and external resources. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse is responsible for participating in staff development and mentoring student clinical experiences. This position will be based out of both the Redwater and Thorhild Home and Community Care Services and includes the Redwater Case Management assignment of the Redwater DSL4D - Specialty Unit.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

Home and Community Care RN Case Management experience required (1 year experience). Knowledge of and skills in applying Home and Community Care Nursing Practice Standards. Knowledge of Continuing Care Health Service Standards. Negotiating skills with clients, caregivers and families. Family assessment skills. Effective oral and written communication. Working independently and as member of a team. Working with people in a health care environment with professionalism and respect. Positive approach and good listening skills in dealing with challenging situations with empathy and sincerity. Understanding of principles of Palliative Care. Ability to perform all assigned tasks and direct clinical care including but not limited to: Constant adjustment of position (sit/stand) throughout the shift. Physical exertion including bending/walking/sitting or standing for long periods of time. Keyboarding documentations for prolonged periods of time. Ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation. Ability to be on call as required.
