Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:CRNA registration required and maintained throughout duration of employment. CPR - HCP level required. A minimum of 5 years recent (within last 2 years) cardiology experience required within the following departments; CICU, CVICU, Cardiac Surgery, Cardiology Inpatient Ward, Cardiac Outpatient Department (Heart Function Clinic, Cardiac Specialty Clinic). Preference will be given to applicants with Outpatient Cardiac Clinic experience; preferably within a Heart Function Stabilization Clinic setting. Nurses are required to have a minimum of 2 years recent experience assessing, monitoring, and teaching adult patients with heart failure. Demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and priority setting skills required. Demonstrated reliability required. Basic computer skills are required. Preferred Qualifications:Able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment. Understanding of adult teaching principles preferred. Connect Care familiarity as asset. Candidates may be required to write a medication calculation exam on interview. Failure to achieve a passing mark on the exam may impact decision to hire.
