Your Opportunity:
Seeking a compassionate and skilled RN whose primary role will be the lead Hematology Oncology Nurse in 3A Adult Day Medicine Clinic at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to patients with hematological cancers, supporting them through their ambulatory therapies and treatment. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical judgement, excellent communication skills, and deep commitment to patient centred care. Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive assessments an implement safe evidence-based nursing care through direct patient interaction. Administer chemotherapy, systemic therapy, immunotherapy, blood components & products and other treatments as prescribed. Respond to promptly and competently to adverse patient events. Collaborate effectively with hematology oncologist, nurse practitioners, nursing team, pharmacy and other Heathcare professionals. Competent in several medical procedures including but not limited to monitoring of drains, care of CVADs and wound care. Provide emotional support/education to patients and their family throughout the treatments. Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing demands. Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Active registration and practice permit with the CRNA. Current BCLS- HCP from Heart and Stroke Foundation required. Physical ability to perform CPR on Adult Clients is required. Must be able to lift and carry 10-15 kg regularly. Must be able to participate and perform hands on care of patients (i.e., transfers, bariatric client assistance, bending, twisting stooping) and to fulfill job requirements including but not limited to reaching above shoulders frequently, looking up frequently, long periods of keyboarding, walking long distances, and standing for prolonged periods of time. Minimum of recent (within 2 years) adult acute care experience in ambulatory infusion clinic or oncology treatment centre. Competent in care and management of Central Vascular Access Device including occlusion management. Connect Care experience is required. Recent (within 2 years) wound care assessment and management skills are required. Competency (within 2 years) experience in administering chemotherapy via intravenous, oral, and subcutaneous routes with OPREP certification required. Must have excellent communication and documentation skills and the ability to participate as an interdisciplinary team member. Competent in performing therapeutic phlebotomy. Competent in administration of SCIG therapy.
Preferred Qualifications:Preference to Connect Care role of Ambulatory Shared Clinic Nurse or Oncology/Hematology Infusion/Clinic Nurse.
