As part of an interdisciplinary team, the RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in alignment with the standards of the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). The RN will lead discharge planning efforts and provide guidance to LPNs and HCAs. They will maintain effective collaboration with the team while working independently, adapt to fluctuating workloads, and demonstrate accountability for their practice. Critical thinking, time management, and strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to take initiative and respond to evolving needs. The RN with the GRH’s Floats Rehabilitation team will be trained across units at the Glenrose and will work within the identified scopes of practice associated with those units. As part of supporting ongoing growth and development, our team’s RNs will also have the opportunity to eventually complete Charge Training. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Must possess the ability to tolerate constant walking, standing, kneeling, and bending, reaching and sustained posture within a fast-paced unit requiring lifting, pushing, pulling of objects greater than 40 lbs. Demonstrated ability to perform and document physical assessments is required. Demonstrated ability to administer medications to patients in a tertiary setting is essential. Demonstrated critical thinking skills, clinical judgment and problem-solving is required. Successful candidate will have the ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction as required. Effective interpersonal communication skills are required. Must possess basic computer skills. Ability to work as a leader and team player are essential. Must be willing to continue expanding upon own professional scope of practice by eventually participating in Charge Training.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience working within the CoACT framework and experience with Connect Care is preferred. ACLS certification is favored. IV Therapy and PICC certifications are preferred. It’s Your Move training is an asset. At least 1 year of recent nursing experience in a tertiary setting is ideal.
