Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent (within the last year) Adult Cardiac experience in an Acute Care, Ambulatory Care or Cardiac Rehabilitation setting required. Minimum of 3 years required. Recent (within the last year) experience with Cardiac Monitoring. Minimum of 3 years' experience required. In-depth knowledge of Cardiac Anatomy and Physiology. Extensive knowledge of the Cardiac Patient Journey. Must be able to tolerate standing for long periods of time. Must be able to tolerate activity within the day including the ability to move and transfer patients and walk moderate distances. Advanced skills in ECG interpretation. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and Connect Care.
Preferred Qualifications:BScN or BN. Able to function as a consultant/educator. Demonstrated ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team and practice in a patient/family centered environment. Effective clinical reasoning/problem solving skills, analytical thinking and conflict resolution. Demonstrates initiative, adaptability, leadership and organizational skills. Knowledge and understanding of Adult Learning Principles and Motivational Interviewing.
