Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 1 year, within the last 3 years of Endoscopy/Bronchoscopy experience. Minimum 3 years, within the last 6 years of acute medical nursing experience such as Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care. Experience working in GI/Endoscopy assisting with colonoscopies, gastroscopies, bronchoscopies, biopsies, cautery, variceal banding, polypectomies required. Procedural sedation certification. Must be able to work on call. Weekend and evening (spread amongst regular staff) on-call is a job requirement. IV experience/certification required; demonstrated skill in clinical decision making related to venous access including initiation and maintenance. Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced dynamic environment where effective organization, prioritization, and multitasking skills are required. Demonstrated ability to function independently and within a team environment. Strong leadership, coaching, problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills, and attention to detail. Must be able to work in a physically challenging environment with frequent pulling and pushing of stretchers, assisting patient transfers, and where constant standing, walking, lifting and bending are required. Lifting and maneuvering heavy weight is requirement on all days of work. Competence with typing and office/clinical/scheduling software required. Experience with Epic/Connect Care required.
Preferred Qualifications:Charge experience in Endoscopy. CVAD certification. Previous experience as a student preceptor. Experience orienting new staff.
