Registered Nurse
Your Opportunity:
Cancer Care Alberta (CCA) has a unique opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RN) to help make a difference for Indigenous patients and communities fighting Cancer. We are currently searching for an Indigenous Cancer Patient Navigator (ICPN) RN to join our team. The ICPN is an integral member of the local multidisciplinary cancer center team bridging a crucial connection between Indigenous peoples including First Nations, Inuit and Metis patients, families and communities with dedicated teams of cancer care services and health professionals. This role works with stakeholders (including oncology specialists, supportive care services, other health care providers, community-based services, patient representatives and CCA) to identify gaps, ensuring that cancer patients within the Indigenous community have timely access to services, community supports and resources throughout the patient’s cancer continuum, from first consultation through to survivorship or palliation. The ICPN builds linkages and relationships with community-based care providers, physicians, and other health professionals to support cancer patients within their local environment and at a tertiary or provincial level. At any point across the cancer trajectory, the ICPN will work in collaboration with the health care team to identify a patient's symptoms and concerns, and tailor interventions to address their physical, psychological, social, emotional, spiritual, and or practical needs. A focus of the ICPN role is working closely with communities and stakeholders to identify gaps and develop strategies to improve access to services to better support Indigenous patients and their families across the cancer care journey.
