Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:A minimum of five years nursing experience including geriatric population support. A minimum of two years’ experience within community nursing (home care, supportive living or facility living). Effective time management and prioritization skills. Conflict resolution and strong communication skills. Must be able to work independently and within a team environment. Ability to problem solve and demonstrate critical thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive assessments to individuals within their physical and social environments. Must be able to cope with high levels of stress, fluctuating priorities, and time sensitive deadlines. Must be able to tolerate long periods of sitting or standing as well as repetitive movements. Must be able to lift and carry 10-15kg regularly. Must be able to participate in hands on care of patients (i.e.: transfers, bariatric clients, bending, twisting, walking distances). Must provide references that can substantiate above qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Applications, interRAI Tools, Connect Care and ePeople. Active Registered Nurses with up-to-date certification may get preference.
