Are you interested in using your specialized skills to support Albertan’s fighting cancer? An exciting opportunity exists to grow your skills and join a dynamic team within the Cross Cancer Centre (CCI). The CCI is a leading comprehensive cancer facility, dedicated to academic and research in providing cancer services for Edmonton and Northern Alberta. The Registered Nurse (RN) will work on Unit 30 which has 28 beds, supporting patients that are under the care of Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology teams. This is an amazing opportunity for the Registered Nurse to deliver patient care throughout the cancer care continuum. Using advanced competency skills, the RN will be responsible for treatment modalities, such as delivery of systemic treatment, symptom management and wound care. The successful candidate will be a key member of the team utilizing the Integrated Collaborative Practice model of CoACT. The nurse will be working with a progressive team that is dedicated to our patients and where we promote opportunities for continuous learning and career development. The RN will need to have strong clinical thinking skills, the ability to prioritize competing demands, good communication skills and work independently and collaboratively within the team to ensure the development, implementation and ongoing administration of the client care plans. You will be open to mentoring others and model a high degree of professionalism. The nurse will Identify and assess the wholistic needs of patients and their families and provide professional nursing care by utilizing the nursing process consistent with the philosophy, objectives, and standards of the Nursing Department and the CANO standards of practice. Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

Acute care experience within the past 2 years. (students with preceptorship or practicum experience in acute care will be considered equivalent). Must be able to perform repetitive physical duties that include walking long distances, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching above shoulder, and able to lift a minimum of 20 kg. Exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships with members of the multidisciplinary team. Exhibit strong time management and prioritization skills, with a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a dynamic environment. Work to full scope as a Registered Nurse. Exhibit leadership skills, including mentorship/coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrate ability to manage change and adapt to changing workflows. Demonstrate a commitment to and participation in professional growth.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience caring for oncology/hematology patients. Experience in administering systemic treatment. Experience working with elements of CoAct and collaborative care. Clinical Trials or Palliative certification and/or experience. Experience with wound care, PVADs, and CVADS. Demonstrate a commitment to and participation in professional growth. Experience with Connect Care. Charge Nurse experience or understanding that as a RN, the expectation is to train and work as charge nurse at times.
