Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must be willing and able to work on both units as staffing needs require, including on short notice. Excellent communication skills utilizing a variety of modalities (verbal, written, active listening) and ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of specific clients and relay resident information to primary health care provider(s), on and off-site, in a timely, concise, accurate manner. Strong critical thinking and assessment skills to recognize and respond appropriately to changes in resident physical, emotional, psychological status.

Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing. Equivalent combinations of education & experience may be considered. Experience in the charge role. Minimum 2 years clinical experience applicable to the service area(s). Previous experience performing comprehensive assessments utilizing the RAI suite of tools. CNA Certification in Gerontological Nursing. Supportive Pathways and/or U-First training. PIECES training.
