Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent neuroscience or spinal cord injury nursing is required. Proficiency with computers is required. Effective time management and the ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities is essential. The candidate must be able to work within a team environment, demonstrate strong conflict resolution skills and prove to have effective communication. Patient and family centered care is a critical focus with discharge planning as a priority. A compassionate and caring attitude, and attention to detail are necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:Excellent communication, and leadership skills are essential – charge nurse experience is preferred. Experience in providing patient education and promotion of self-management strategies. Patient physical care needs require staff to do constant patient handling such as lifting, repositioning, and transferring of patients with varying level of independence using It’s Your Move principles and equipment.
