Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited undergraduate nursing education program with at least 2 years of nursing experience. Recent experience in a community setting; 2 years Home Care experience preferred. BCLS-HCP from Heart and Stroke Foundation within the last 12 months. There is also an expectation to be a mobile worker. This role requires travel within the city of Calgary including caring for clients in their homes or in the community. You will be responsible to operate a laptop computer and mobile phone, and for manual handling (lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing and pulling) as a regular part of the job. For example: lifting of approximately 30 pounds in and out of a vehicle on a regular basis and carrying this weight up and down stairs throughout the day is common within this job. Learning resources and training are provided to safely perform work. Currently holding a position of 0.6FTE or lower. This position requires a 12wk Full-Time Orientation M-F that you must be available to attend and complete.
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Experience working with acute clients and/or long term clients. Experience in providing case management services. Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) certification in Gerontology. Experience in Home Parenteral Therapy (HPT), wound/skin and ostomy care, palliative support and client teaching.
