Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Applicants must be physically able to perform all duties listed in the Surgical Registered Nurse Job Description and Hazard Assessment Control Worksheet (HIAC) including working conditions. Extended periods of sitting and standing are required. Maintains competencies outlined in legislation and the profession through continuous learning. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to efficiently organize and prioritize workload. Good listening skills and ability to accurately and effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Evidence of team commitment and good interpersonal skills in dealing with clients, colleagues, physicians and public. Evidence of flexibility, initiative and commitment. Evidence of maturity, diplomacy and tact.
Preferred Qualifications:2-3 years of recent surgical or medical experience or recent preceptorship on a surgical unit preferred.
