Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:The assignments of the Registered Nurse in Home Care could include discharge planning, intake, supportive living case management, as well as case management of community clients in a variety of settings. You may be required to cover other assignments as workload dictates under the home care program as a Case Manager and will be scheduled to work on call as part of your rotation. Physically able to perform all assigned tasks and may involve physical exertion not limited to climbing stairs, walking outside, lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and carrying which may involve visits to client homes that are not ideal.
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum of 2 years Home Care experience within the last 5 years of nursing preferred, although, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. Current use of Meditech, Service Authorizations, RAI-HC, Netcare, and AADLs. Experience with HPT, wound care, client teaching, palliative support. Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management and ability to work in a collaborative team demonstrating adaptability and flexibility.
