Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:RPNs – Active or Eligible Registration with CRPNA College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta. Minimum 1 year of Addictions and Mental health experience on an inpatient unit or community crisis service. New grads who have completed a final preceptorship in an Addiction and Mental Health site may be considered. Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in child and adolescents' mental health preferred. Nursing experience in an acute care setting is preferred. Knowledge of the Addiction and Mental Health related resources across the Calgary Zone preferred. Knowledge of verbal de-escalation techniques preferred. Knowledge of how to intervene is an asset. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act preferred. Experience in various risk assessment i.e., Suicide risk, Homicidal risk, violent risk an asset.
