Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Administration Certificate (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

Degree/diploma in nursing RN/RPN; (BN or BSCN). Training in psychological first aid required. Minimum 5 years of crisis assessment experience in a community addiction and mental health setting is required. Demonstrated ability to conduct a bio-psycho-social assessment in a non-traditional setting required. Demonstrated teaching abilities required. Comprehensive knowledge of the Alberta MH Act is required. Strong decision making, assessment and clinical intervention skills required. Demonstrated ability to manage varying levels of clinical acuity and ability to work successfully with a heterogeneous client population required. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary community health team and to accept and request direction is required. Demonstrated professional, mature manner required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to work supportively with colleagues, addressing issues of safety for clients and others. Awareness of community agencies and resources for addiction and mental health clients (both inside and outside of AHS) an asset. Training in critical incident stress management preferred.
