Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

As a bona fide occupational requirement and under Section 11 of the Alberta Human Rights Act, only Indigenous applicants will be considered. A high degree of cultural competence embedded experience as it relates to working with Indigenous people. At least 5 years of experience providing significant direct health care services to Indigenous families/communities or being someone who has lived at minimum 5 consecutive years as a participant member within an Indigenous community. Case management coordination, i.e., admission to discharge planning, teaching complex medical care scenarios to patients and families. Strong verbal and written communication skills; the ability to engage in meaningful and solution-focused discussions with stakeholders and partners is imperative. The ability to organize oneself and remain organized during times of priority shifting and pressure is imperative in Case Management; there are ongoing multiple competing priorities that shift daily. Comprehensive literature and computer skills as it relates to electronic medical record documentation. Strong negotiation and mitigation skills; ability to remain professional and composed during times of adversity.

Preferred Qualifications:

Fluency in an Indigenous language is an asset and knowledge of local Indigenous history and experience in local Indigenous culture. Home care experience preferred with knowledge of transitional planning. Indigenous programming or health care certificates. Broad knowledge of Indigenous history within the healthcare system and the associated impacts on overall health outcomes.
