Your Opportunity:

You’re a Registered Nurse with a high level of initiative, independence, and attention to detail. Alberta Health Services is looking for someone like you to provide a high level of care to short stay surgical patients in Unit 24, Red Deer Regional Hospital. You are competent in relevant technical nursing skills and are committed to continuous learning, learning new skills as required, and taking responsibility for your own professional development. Working in a fast-paced, high turnover unit, you will put your nursing knowledge and skill to a variety of tasks as you provide preoperative and postoperative care to surgical patients. This will include teaching and discharge planning for adult patients undergoing a wide variety of surgical procedures including General surgery, Urology, Plastic surgery, Orthopedics, Gynecology, and Ear, Nose and Throat procedures. Your outstanding communication skills will help you establish collaborative relationships with the supportive interdisciplinary team, whatever stage of career you are in. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Additional Required Qualifications (1500 characters. Skills and abilities. Ability to meet the physical demands of the job including lifting and transferring of patients.
