The Hanna Health Centre is comprised of a 24-hour Emergency Department, a 17-bed Acute Care ward and a 61 bed Long Term Care facility located in a rural setting. As a member of the CoAct team you will be responsible for the assessment, design, and implementation of continuing care services for a caseload of clients residing in this setting. Registered Nurse will play a key role in resident care planning (interdisciplinary including resident and family) and allowing resident to achieve their goals and enhance their quality of life. This environment is suitable for candidates who have a strong interest and skills in providing care to the elderly client. Using the principles of patient and family centred care, you will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team and client to develop individualized care plans and support the client in meeting their care goals. In addition, you will demonstrate strong critical thinking skills, the ability to prioritize competing demands and exceptional communication skills to build and foster strong interpersonal relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Hanna is located 199 km from Red Deer, with a population of 2,673. The town offers its residents a friendly, safe and small town lifestyle. Hanna residents benefit from a wide variety of amenities within the town, such as the Aquatic Centre for swimming, Centennial Place for fitness and other activities, and two lakes within 15 kilometers of the town where residents can waterski or enjoy the sandy beaches. There is also the Agri-Sports Complex where residents can skate, play hockey or curl.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year experience dealing with all entire age spectrum including seniors.

Preferred Qualifications:

Actively integrates Patient and Family Centered Care principles into practice. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary team. Demonstrates critical thinking, conflict resolution and problem solving skills. Excellent time management and prioritization skills. Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the values of AHS - compassion, accountability, respect, excellence and safety. Experience in Geriatric Nursing an asset.
