Registered Dental Assistant
Your Opportunity:
Are you a Registered Dental Assistant seeking a new opportunity where you get to travel within Central Alberta, supporting the Oral Health within Public Health team? If so, this may be the opportunity for you! As a Registered Dental Assistant with the Public Health team within Central Zone, supporting Camrose and surrounding areas, you will implement the provincial Oral Health Action Plan by addressing risk factors for oral health. Your responsibilities will include oral health assessments, fluoride varnish and sealant application to students in targeted schools; fluoride varnish applications to preschool aged children; and oral health education for parents, and health professionals. You will work collaboratively with other Public Health staff, community dentists, community agencies, and schools, integrating the principles of health promotion, community development and capacity building. This position requires moving heavy equipment, and navigating awkward positions. You will be required to pack, lift, move, and transport heavy and/or awkward supplies to various work sites. Description:
As a Dental Assistant, you will receive and prepare patients for treatment. You will prepare instruments and materials required, perform intra-oral procedures and chair-side assistance during dental procedures. You will maintain cleanliness of the dental area and perform routine maintenance. You will also provide oral health treatment and education to patients. You may perform billing and pre-authorization of insurance claims and participate in the development of educational resource materials. You will maintain dental charts, records and databases.

Completion of a certificate from an accredited Dental Assisting Program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Dental Assistants (CADA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Current Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS) registration is required. You must be able to lift and move up to 40 pounds. Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair that is capable of moving equipment to provide services in the community is necessary as work-related travel is required. One year within the last three years’ experience providing preventive services such as pit and fissure sealants, fluoride varnish applications. Experience working with children and vulnerable population.
Preferred Qualifications:One year within the last three years’ experience in Public Health/Community Health.
