Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Journeyperson Refrigeration Mechanic Certificate from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.

Additional Required Qualifications:

5th Class Power Engineering Certificate or higher (or ability to obtain within 6 months) required. 5-7 Years of specialized technical/professional experience preferably in a hospital environment. Initiative and judgment required in solving technical problems arising in day to day operations. Knowledge related to the refrigeration trade. Knowledge of General Safety Services Act relating to plant operation and associated regulations. Familiarity with lock out and confined space work permits and procedures. Good verbal and written communication skills. Must be reliable, cooperative and capable of working independently. Must be thoroughly familiar with all tools and equipment used in the trade and knowledge of the refrigeration and air condition code and all safety regulations. Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work related travel is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with repair and maintenance of chillers is a definite asset.
