Your Opportunity:

This position is based out of the town of Coronation with some time spent in Consort. The Town of Coronation is located in the heart of east central Alberta, about 270 km from Edmonton and 300 km from Calgary, in the county of Paintearth. Coronation is a rural and agriculture-based community with excellent local recreational facilities, offering programs for all ages, schools supporting K-12. As a Recreation Therapist I, you will be providing services to LTC residents in multiple rural facilities as needed. You will be expected to communicate and collaborate with the residents, families, recreation therapy team and interdisciplinary team regarding the care, opportunities and therapeutic recreation programming provided within these facilities. In this role, you will be supported by the Allied Health Area Manager and Recreational Therapy Professional Practice Lead, with opportunities to connect with professional in surrounding areas. You may also need to collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator as well as community partners in the various sites to provide effective programming. You will be expected to provide direction and supervision to the Therapy Assistant(s) at each site.

Description:

As a Recreation Therapist I, you will be working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive services for patients (clients, residents) within your assigned program or service area. You will ensure the level of therapeutic recreation practice is evidence based, patient-and family-centred, and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

BLS.

Preferred Qualifications:
