Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration for Professional Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).
Additional Required Qualifications:3-5 years’ experience in a Recreation Therapist position; Long Term Care, Acute Care & community setting. 3-5 years demonstrated knowledge and competency with therapeutic recreation professional standards of practice, best available evidence/research, assessments, client-centered treatment plans, identifying outcomes, individual and group treatment interventions, evaluation, interdisciplinary collaboration and documentation. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification Association (AFLCA) with a specialty in Fitness for the Older Adult. Dementia Care training and/or certifications (Dementia Practice Guidelines for Recreational Therapy, Montessori Based Therapy). Expressive art and Music Care experience. CPR certification. Valid Heart and Stroke Foundation-Basic Life Support. Motivational Interviewing/Health Change Methodology Valid Class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to provide therapy to clients in their home. Demonstration of continuing education Physically capable of pushing wheelchairs for extended periods and performing patient transfers. Punctual, meticulous and reliable. Demonstrates regular attendance. Per AHS policy the successful candidate must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or be eligible for accommodation based on religious beliefs or medical status.
Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold the above additional required qualifications. It’s Your Move. Aquatic therapy experience.
