RAI Lead
Your Opportunity:
We're looking for a RAI Lead who is passionate about improving the quality, consistency, and meaningful use of Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) data to support excellence in continuing care. In this key leadership role, you'll provide organizational expertise in interRAI assessment systems, including the interRAI Contact Assessment (CA), interRAI Home Care (HC), and interRAI Long-Term Care Facilities (LTCF) instruments. Working closely with operational leaders, clinicians, educators, analytics teams, contracted service providers, and provincial partners, you'll help strengthen Assisted Living Alberta's ability to use assessment information to inform clinical decision making, quality improvement initiatives, resource planning, and strategic priorities. This position combines project leadership, stakeholder engagement, education, data quality oversight, reporting, and practice support. You'll lead initiatives to improve assessment accuracy and consistency, develop education and competency strategies, facilitate multidisciplinary working groups, support reporting and evaluation activities, and promote the effective use of RAI information across the organization. Using evidence-informed approaches and strong relationship-building skills, you'll help drive improvements that enhance resident outcomes, support person-centered care planning, strengthen organizational performance, and advance a culture of continuous improvement. This permeant position reports to the Director, Clinical Support and Quality and is eligible for hybrid work arrangement at or out of SouthPort (Calgary).
Description:
The RAI Lead provides organizational leadership and subject matter expertise related to Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) practices, education, data quality, reporting, and quality improvement across Assisted Living Alberta. Reporting to the Director, Clinical Support and Quality, the role leads initiatives supporting the consistent application and effective use of interRAI assessment instruments, including the interRAI Contact Assessment (CA), interRAI Home Care (HC), and interRAI Long-Term Care Facilities (LTCF) tools, to enhance resident care, operational decision making, and organizational performance. The RAI Lead collaborates with operational leaders, clinicians, educators, analytics and information technology teams, contracted service providers, provincial RAI partners, and other stakeholders to develop strategies that improve assessment accuracy, data integrity, reporting, and knowledge translation. The role leads organizational education and competency initiatives related to interRAI assessment methodologies, supports quality assurance and accuracy monitoring, facilitates working groups and stakeholder engagement, and identifies opportunities to improve clinical, operational, and business practices using RAI data. The RAI Lead develops reporting frameworks, performance measures, and evaluation approaches to support quality improvement, service planning, and strategic decision making. The position provides expert consultation on the completion, interpretation, and application of interRAI assessment information, including clinical assessment protocols, scales, outcome measures, quality indicators, and reporting outputs. The RAI Lead supports change management related to assessment and reporting practices and represents Assisted Living Alberta on organizational, provincial, and external committees and initiatives.

Undergraduate degree in healthcare administration, business administration, public administration, nursing, or a related field; Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare operations or a comparable complex service environment; Experience working in multi‑site or multi‑service operational environments; Experience leading complex projects or operational initiatives.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Documented professional development in project management, quality improvement, and/or change management; Leadership experience in strategic planning, project management, quality improvement, implementation planning, and project evaluation; Experience managing issues and risks, facilitating multi‑stakeholder groups, and resolving operational or service‑delivery challenges; Demonstrated communication skills through roles requiring preparation of reports, presentations, and engagement with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge of an experiencing using interRAI assessment tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in continuing care, seniors’ services, or similar community based or long term care environments; Leadership experience in settings where project resources did not report directly to the position; Experience applying structured problem solving or change management approaches within project or operational roles (Lean, PDSA, DMAIC, Prosci/ADKAR).
