Completion of doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) program. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Doctoral level degree in professional psychology, including internship/residency (preferably from a CPA accredited program). All requirements must be completed, including dissertation. Both graduate and internship/residency training with an emphasis on assessment of pediatric (preschool and school aged) populations with a variety of neurodevelopmental disorders, and complex medical and/or psychological difficulties. Minimum 5 years’ experience in the assessment and differential diagnosis of developmentally complex children. Demonstrated understanding of a pediatric population with complex medical, neurodevelopmental , behavioural, academic and psycho-social difficulties. Competency in the administration and interpretation of standardized assessment tools that should include, but are not limited to, those that assess for intelligence, academics, memory, executive functioning and attention. Knowledge and competency in the administration and interpretation of specific Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnostic tools (e.g., ADOS-2, ADI-R). Research reliability with the ADOS/ADOS-2 desired.
Preferred Qualifications:Several years of relevant clinical experience, including experience working on multidisciplinary teams with other allied health and medical professionals. Experience in the application of assessment findings to the Canadian FASD Guidelines for diagnosis. Familiarity with virtual assessment tools including the TELE-ASD-PEDS and BOSA (Brief Observation of Symptoms of Autism).
