Psychologist II
Your Opportunity:
As part of a multidisciplinary Child Abuse Services team, the Psychologist provides assessment, treatment, and consultation to children, youth, and families experiencing complex developmental, medical, and psychological difficulties related to maltreatment, and to children exhibiting problematic sexualized behaviour. The team operates in partnership with the Luna Child and Youth Advocacy Centre and its partner agencies. The Psychologist consults with the Child Abuse Services team, other ACH and CDC staff, agency partners, and community organizations. This position requires independent work with regular review, supervision, and clinical consultation from the Team Leader. The incumbent is expected to participate in training and supervision of psychology students in CPA-accredited predoctoral residency and university practica, as well as involvement in clinical research, program evaluation, and outcomes monitoring. Key responsibilities include comprehensive psychological assessment; evidence-based interventions with children, parents, and families; participation in court proceedings and expert testimony as required; consultation and collaboration with referral sources, team members, and community partners; contributing to community and staff education; and preparing thorough documentation to support patient care, credentialing, program planning, training, and research. Description:
As a Psychologist II, you will provide advanced clinical services (including psychological assessment, diagnosis and/or intervention), consultation and education to the interprofessional team and patients/families, and/or provides clinical leadership and coordination in an assigned program area. This is an advanced level psychology position that will allow you to work with or within teams to provide and inform services for patients with complex and multi-dimensional medical, psychological, interpersonal, environmental and/or instrumental needs. You will consult, collaborate, and enact initiatives to ensure that practices are evidence based and in alignment with psychology standards of practice and code of ethics, as well as policy, legislation and regulations. You will be expected to lead, facilitate and/or participate in program, policy, and procedure development, service planning, staff development, quality improvement and evaluation, and/or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s). You may provide supervision to doctoral level psychology residents, master's level interns, provisional psychologists, psychometrists and other team members.

Completion of doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) program. . A combination of equivalent education and experience may also be considered. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). Applications from Provisional Psychologists may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Doctoral degree in professional psychology, including internship (preferably CPA-accredited), with all requirements completed, including dissertation. Graduate and internship training emphasizing assessment and treatment of children and adolescents affected by maltreatment, including developmental, medical, and mental health challenges. Experience providing evidence-based psychotherapy to children and adolescents who have experienced maltreatment, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT), and completion of online TF-CBT modules. Certification or willingness to complete within-agency training for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Problematic Sexualized Behaviour (PSB-CBT). Demonstrated understanding of family-centered care principles and ability to apply them with clients who have experienced maltreatment. Strong clinical skills and ability to work in a variety of therapeutic modalities with children, youth, and their families. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, with flexibility to respond to crises. Self-directed, highly motivated, with excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational skills with ability to manage a complex caseload, meet deadlines, and maintain high standards of documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in a multidisciplinary health care or child protection setting. Knowledge and experience in additional evidence-based interventions such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy for Adolescents, Connect Parenting, Circle of Security, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Experience facilitating group interventions. Experience providing expert testimony in court.
