Your Opportunity:

This position reports to a Unit Manager within the Adult Inpatient Program at The Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury and serves individuals who have psychiatric conditions requiring specialized assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation services through an interdisciplinary approach. In this progressive and expanding service, with a commitment to professional development and excellence, you will provide psychological services to our acute units and a complex care unit within an interdisciplinary model. Psychological services will include assessment, consultation, treatment, psychotherapy, treatment planning, and administrative duties. There may be opportunities for program evaluation, research activities, as well as collaborative projects with other professionals and psychologists from this and other programs within the hospital. The psychology group as a whole will be involved in the management of the caseload. Nestled in the beautiful Battle River Valley, the Town of Ponoka is a thriving and welcoming community. Description:

As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of standard level psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment. Your services may include psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention and promotion, as well as educational activities. You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practices and ethical and professional standards. You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consult and collaborate with teams and community services. Your duties may also include providing supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists and/or masters level psychology students, and providing input into program, policy and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience in preforming psychological assessments, as well as knowledge of administration and interpretation of a variety of standardized cognitive and personality assessment instruments is essential. Current BCLS-HCP certification. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with different treatment modalities, groups, individual, and couple / family therapy as well as behavior management techniques is desirable. Strong communication, organization and report writing skills. A demonstrated ability to work in and interdisciplinary team is desirable.
