Completion of Grade 12. A combination of education and experience satisfactory to the employer will also be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Some post secondary education. 1 year experience working in Addictions and Mental Health (acute care or community settings). Strong verbal and written communication skills including active listening skills. Ability to establish and maintain relationships built on mutual respect, appropriate sensitivity and transparency, empathy, and compassion. Ability to maintain a calm and tactful composure under a broad range of challenging circumstances. Ability to work cooperatively and productively with others. Ability to enhance, support, and empower patient engagement in treatment and changes. The incumbent must have the physical strength to assist in carrying patient belongings, bed movement, and ambulating patients.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of verbal de-escalation techniques preferred. Knowledge of how to intervene is an asset. NVCI certification an asset. Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care an asset. Degree or diploma in psychology or related field an asset.
