Completion of Grade 12. Completion of Personal Care Aide or Mental Health Aide Certificate or equivalent. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:The Adult Acute Services units of the Edmonton Zone Addiction and Mental Health Programs located at the Alberta Hospital Edmonton, Royal Alexandra Hospital and University of Alberta Hospital sites, are dynamic, patient and family centered inpatient units where all members of the team work within the collaborative care (CoACT) framework according to the program’s Principles of Care. Reporting to the Relief Team Program Manager with the Staffing Service Center, and under the direction of a Unit Manager or designate, the Psychiatric/Mental Health Aide performs activities that support meeting the personal care needs and comfort of patients in accordance with patient care plans, and hospital policies and procedures. Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting in the provision of routine care to meet patient’s hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs. The Psychiatric/Mental Health Aide also assists in the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, families, staff and visitors. Off campus patient escort duties may be assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:Health Care Aide certification. Post-secondary education in social sciences, psychology or health services. Experience working with persons with addiction and/or mental health issues in a hospital setting.
