High School diploma or equivalent. Active (or eligible) for appointment as a Community Peace Officer with enforcement duties involving the public, as identified by the Province of Alberta/Solicitor General. Successful completion of Alberta Health Services or Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Community Peace Officer Induction Training Program (6 weeks program). Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) Driver's Licence. Valid Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) completed under 4:45 minute, within 6 months prior to commencing employment.
Additional Required Qualifications:Alberta Class 5 operator's license or a provincial equivalent with not more than four demerits and no charges or current or pending suspensions. Current Standard First Aid and Level C CPR. The successful candidate will need to be available to attend a 6-week Community Peace Officer courses either in Edmonton or Calgary. Current or Retired Peace or Police officers may be exempted from attending the training if they are within 5 years of active duty.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in uniformed public servant roles or emergency services. (Military, forestry, park ranger, corrections, peace officer.) Community involvement or volunteering (unpaid positions). Knowledge of or training in harm reduction, anti-racism and Indigenous awareness. Comfortable/experienced in public speaking. Two years of related education (Security, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice Preferred) and/or experience.
