The Procurement Specialist III - Contract Coordinator is a professional position in the Contracting, Procurement and Supply Management (CPSM) Department. This position leads and facilitates the contracting of health services to meet the health needs of Albertans. This Contract Coordinator position will join the team accountable for Direct Patient Care and General Services agreements which include, but not limited to, Pharmacy Services, Midwifery, Public and Indigenous Health, inter-Provincial agreements, Non Hospital Surgical Facilities and General Services. The Contract Coordinator ensures overall integration within the health system by procuring, strategic negotiations, managing and administering various types of agreements across a wide breadth of health services and client populations. This will be achieved through developing collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders within and external to AHS to assess service needs, identify emerging issues, and ensure that services are in place to meet the needs of service recipients. The ability to draw on a strong working knowledge of health services including service design, implementation and delivery will contribute to success in this role. The Contract Coordinator works independently and has strong negotiation and consultative skills and provides sound business leadership to our clinical operations teams. Familiarity with associated legislative, policy and practice framework is critical to plan for, procure, and monitor services that meet the complex needs of Albertans.

Description:

As a Procurement Specialist III, you will showcase your excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff and external vendors. You will develop new contracts and contract amendments that create value and mitigate risk to AHS. You will be responsible for coordinating all activities related to the competitive bidding process including RFx evaluations preparing contract documents, assisting with contract implementations and managing contracts within their assigned categories in compliance with AHS procurement processes, policies and guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of post-secondary degree in Business or Supply Management.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Post-secondary education, minimum undergraduate degree related to Business, Social Sciences or a health care related discipline. Demonstrated equivalency and experience may be considered. Proven record of independent problem-solving and decision making abilities. Proven record of strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to articulate stakeholder needs both internal to AHS and the health services provider community to achieve best outcome of health service delivery. Continuous learning is critical to keep pace with the environmental and operational changes. Dispute resolution and mediation and negotiation experience. Experience in facilitation/coordination of project planning, execution, reporting, monitoring and evaluation. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. Must be detailed oriented and able to work independently and with a group. Demonstrated ability to adapt to rapidly changing situations and conflicting priorities while maintaining a high degree of professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications:

Contract management experience including financial, business and risk management experience is preferred. Experience in health care sector.
