Your Opportunity:

Description:

As a Procurement Specialist I, you will be responsible for performing purchasing functions consistent with established policies and practices while utilizing your excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff and external vendors. You will be responsible for the acquisition and procurement of routinely purchased supplies, equipment and services within assigned work groups. Your other responsibilities may include researching and collating information, preparing requests for quotations, and issuing purchase orders using pre-set templates and established rules.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Formal Education: Completion of related post-secondary education and Supply Chain Management courses is required. Experience: Intermediate understanding of purchasing fundamentals. A minimum of three years of purchasing experience is required. Proficiency with MS office applications required. Keyboarding skills with minimum of 30wpm required. Ability to communicate in English clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing, with all levels of staff, management, and vendors is required. Effective organizational skills, ability to prioritize, accuracy and attention to detail. Oracle or other ERP system experience is required. Good understanding of Supplier Relationship Management principles. Client focused and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Basic understanding of contract language and legal terminology. Must be a self-starter; demonstrate initiative and be able to action assigned tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional Membership(s): Relevant designations pertaining to business and/or supply chain management preferred. Healthcare and/or Public Purchasing/supply chain experience is an asset. Client focused and ability to work effectively in a team environment. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
