Power Engineer, 3rd Class
Your Opportunity:
The 3rd Class Power Engineer assists the 2nd Class Power Engineer in the safe, efficient and reliable operation and maintenance of the Energy Centre, through personal inspections and scrutinizing remote indicating devices. During non-administrative hours the Assistant is required to monitor and perform energy repair to all mechanical and electrical equipment, including the swimming pool in the hospital. The Assistant also responds to all the fire alarms by taking appropriate action and resets the fire system as required. This position may be required to work at other hospital sites within the Edmonton Zone (including rural).
Description:
As a Power Engineer 3rd Class, you will be responsible for performing repairs and inspections on a variety of building equipment and mechanical systems in accordance with AHS and Alberta Boiler Safety Association (ABSA) standards and practices. You will perform maintenance work on power plant and building equipment as well as mechanical systems. In addition, you will operate and maintain the plant in a safe and efficient manner according to ABSA regulations and perform emergency maintenance on building related systems and equipment.

Completion of 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate.
Additional Required Qualifications:Valid Province of Alberta or Interprovincial 3rd Class Engineer’s Certificate of Competency is required. Minimum of 1 – 3 years’ experience with progressive responsibilities in the operation and maintenance of a modern 1st Class pressure plant in a hospital setting is required. Good knowledge of DCS (i.e., Insight, ABB, etc.). ABSA Certification is required. Demonstrated operational and maintenance abilities, as well as proven mechanical aptitude. Must be in good physical condition with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. No physical limitations with regards to sitting, bending, kneeling, crouching, etc. Good verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work under own initiative with minimal direction is required.
